Quick verdict
For most people the Nurik HY300 PRO+ with Android 13 is the best buy: auto focus and keystone, built-in apps and a good price. To spend the least, the Helles Haus portable; and for the biggest, brightest image of the group, the Gadnic HY300 Pro. Note: these are all entry-level projectors and shine in a dark room.
What to look for before buying
- Real brightness (not the listing's lumens) — The '4500 lumens' you see on listings is marketing: real brightness on these units is around 100-200 ANSI lumens. They work great at night or in a dark room; in daylight the image washes out. For home movie nights, they're enough.
- Native vs. supported resolution — Almost all say '4K' but that's the signal they ACCEPT, not what they project: native resolution is usually 720p or 1080p. Native 1080p looks clearly better. Don't overpay for a '4K' that isn't real.
- Built-in Android — Android (11, 13, 14) lets you open Netflix, YouTube or Disney+ without plugging anything in. Without a system, you depend on a cable or a separate device (a Fire Stick, for example).
- Focus and keystone correction — Auto focus and correction save you from fighting a skewed or blurry image every time you move it. That's the difference between enjoying it and cursing at it; 'PRO' models usually include them.
- Connections — HDMI for a console or set-top box, Wi-Fi for apps and phone mirroring, and Bluetooth to send audio to a speaker (the built-in sound on these is weak).

A projector turns any wall into a giant screen for a fraction of what a big TV costs, and today’s portables with built-in Android make it all easy. But there’s one key thing to understand before buying: the lumens and ‘4K’ on the listings are inflated. With the right expectations, for night movies they do very well. We compared the best-sellers on MercadoLibre Argentina.
What to look for
- Real brightness: forget the ‘4500 lumens’; they’re around 100-200 real ANSI. They need a dark room or dim light to look good.
- Native resolution: the ‘4K’ is the signal they accept, not what they project. Native 1080p looks better than 720p.
- Built-in Android: to open Netflix or YouTube without plugging anything in.
- Auto focus and keystone: save you from fighting a skewed image.
- Connections: HDMI, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (send audio to a speaker; the built-in one is weak).
Our pick
For most people, the Nurik HY300 PRO+ with Android 13 is the most complete buy: auto focus and correction, built-in apps and a good price. To spend the least, the Helles Haus does the job; and for the biggest, brightest image with national-brand support, the Gadnic HY300 Pro.
Let’s be clear: these are entry-level projectors, not a home cinema. In a dark room they give a huge, enjoyable screen; in full daylight they wash out. Prices come from MercadoLibre Argentina and update daily; the link always takes you to the current offer.
Frequently asked
Do they really have 4500 lumens and 4K?
No. This is the most important thing to understand before buying: the lumens and '4K' on these budget projectors' listings are inflated. Real brightness is around 100-200 ANSI lumens (that's why they need a dark room) and native resolution is usually 720p or 1080p, even if they 'accept' a 4K signal. It's not our trick: it's how the whole segment is marketed. With realistic expectations, for night movies they do very well.
Can I use it in daylight or do I need darkness?
They need dim light or darkness to look good. With the blinds down or at night, the image is big and enjoyable; in full daylight it washes out and loses contrast. If your plan is daytime use in a bright room, an entry-level projector isn't for you: a TV is the better call there.
Do I need a separate device for Netflix?
If the projector has built-in Android (the ones we picked do), no: you open the apps straight from the remote. If it were a model without a system, you'd need a Fire Stick, Chromecast or similar over HDMI. And for sound, it's almost always best to send audio to a speaker over Bluetooth.
Are prices and stock up to date?
Yes: we take real price and availability from MercadoLibre Argentina and refresh them daily. They can change at any time; the link always takes you to the current offer.
