What to look for before buying
- The size has to match your bed — A double headboard is around 140 cm wide and a queen around 160. Fit one narrower than the bed and the mattress edges are left exposed and it looks wrong; fit one wider and it encroaches on the bedside tables. Measure your bed base's width before buying, not the commercial size you think it is.
- How it mounts: wall, bed base or self-adhesive — It decides whether you can install it where you live. Wall-fixed ones are the firmest but need a drill and plugs.
