Quick verdict
For most people the Sony WH-CH520 are the best buy: comfortable over-ear fit, huge battery life and brand-name sound at a mid-range price. To spend the least, the Xiaomi Redmi Buds 6 Play; and for brand-name earbuds with a case, the JBL Wave Buds 2.
What to look for before buying
- Format: over-ear, neckband or TWS — This decides almost everything. Over-ear gives the best sound for the money and enormous battery life, but takes up space. TWS (two loose earbuds with a case) are the most convenient for the street and the gym. Neckband in-ears are the cheap middle ground: you can't lose them and they last for ages.
- Real battery life — Over-ear runs 40-50 hours per charge; TWS, 5-7 hours plus case recharges. Watch the TWS figure: makers add the case charges to inflate the number. What matters is how long they last in your ears before you have to put them away.
- Noise cancelling vs. passive isolation — Real active noise cancelling is expensive and at this price point it's mostly marketing. An in-ear with a well-sealing tip blocks nearly as much as cheap ANC. Don't pay extra for the acronym: check the tips seal properly instead.
- Microphone for calls — If you'll use them for work, the mic matters more than the sound. Over-ear models and TWS from known brands (Sony, JBL) handle voice noticeably better than generics, which make you unintelligible outdoors.
- Codec and latency — For music, any modern codec is fine. Latency does show if you watch video or game: very cheap headphones drift audio out of sync with the picture. If that's your main use, look for a low-latency or game mode.

There are wireless headphones for every budget: from $23,000 TWS to brand-name over-ears. The key is choosing the right format for your use. We compared the best sellers on MercadoLibre Argentina and put together a clear recommendation.
The three formats (and who each is for)
- Over-ear: the best sound and the best battery, but bulkier. Ideal for home, work and long trips.
- True-wireless (TWS): two separate earbuds with a case. The most comfortable for sport and everyday use; just be careful not to lose one.
- In-ear with a neckband: a middle ground: light, good battery and no risk of losing a bud.
What to check
- Battery: an over-ear lasts all day; TWS give you a few hours plus case recharges.
- Microphone: if you make lots of calls, prioritize models that highlight it.
- Noise cancelling: great for the subway or the office, but it raises the price.
- Brand and spares: Sony, JBL and Xiaomi have support and replacement ear tips locally.
Our pick
For most people, the Sony WH-CH520 is the most rounded buy: over-ear format, long battery, balanced sound from a serious brand and an on-sale price. If you want something fully wireless to move around, the JBL Wave Buds 2; and if you’re after the lowest price, the Xiaomi Redmi Buds 6 Play deliver without fuss.

Frequently asked
Over-ear or true wireless?
It depends where you'll use them. Over-ear wins on sound, long-session comfort and battery: 40+ hours versus about 6 for TWS. It's the better pick for work, study or travel. TWS win on portability: they fit in a pocket, don't mess up your hair and are far better for the gym or walking around. If they're your only pair and you wear them for hours, go over-ear; if you want them on the move, TWS.
Is cheap noise cancelling worth it?
Not much. Good active cancelling needs microphones and processing that aren't there at this price, so many budget models advertise ANC and barely attenuate a low hum. The honest version: an in-ear with the right size tip isolates passively almost as well and costs nothing extra. Prioritise comfort and battery over the acronym on the box.
How long do TWS earbuds really last?
Always look at the per-charge figure, not the total with the case. A mid-range TWS gives 5 to 7 hours in your ears, and the case adds 3 or 4 more charges. The maker publishes the sum (say 30 hours), but that doesn't mean 30 hours straight. For a full workday you'll need to put them away for a while at lunch.
